Description
The Fujifilm X-E1 is the second camera to be released in the X system which started with the X-Pro1. It features the same sensor and many of the same features of the X-Pro1, but in a different body and without a hybrid viewfinder, instead choosing to use an EVF.

Overall rating
I have X-E1 , X-M1 and X-E3. Among these three X-E1 is the one most serious looking, with its metal body and overall build quality. X-M1 is slightly more responsive than X-E1, has tilting LCD and WiFi features but doesn't have an EVF and that means a lot for me. X-E1's EVF is usable, larger that I would expect, a bit slow in refresh but still nice to use. X-E3 is quite a leap forward in speed, resolution and other areas but there is something missing in the soul. Whatever technical specs say, X-E1 seems to have a larger and more natural EVF, maybe just because X-E3 presents so much in its EVF and you don't want to hide them :) X-E1 has an in-body flash which is always a bonus for me as I carry one less thing this way. 16MP sensor is marvellous, both in sharpness and colors. High ISO results are quite good with no color artifacts in the noise. As I don't chase moving objects and creatures, slower AF speed doesn't bother me much. Having no on sensor focusing ability, in video shoots recapturing the focus may be a problem but if you are a photo only shooter like me this also means there is no pixel information (PDAF pixels on sensor, etc) lost for focus purposes. Still keeping my X-E1 with a 27mm 2.8 pan cake lens on it for street shoots. Quite an unobstrusive, unthreatening combo for sure.
