Description
This is a nice "compact" solid built camera. The body is made of magnesium and feels premium. It was released in 2002 at 800$. It shoots 5mp raw (ORF and TIFF) and jpeg with a 1/1.8" (7.2 x 5.3 mm) CCD sensor. But Raw shooting takes a long time because of the slow card write speeds. The Top Screen does fade out on some models. Also the Battery Door seems to be a weak spot. When zoomed in and the apparture wide open you can shot some nice portraits with pretty good seperation. The camera takes 4 AA batteries. The white eneloops don´t last very long. I recomend the black ones if you want to shoot with rechargeables. The autofocus is very slow but accurate enough. It has a sick macro mode wich gets you a 3cm minimum focus distance. The camera can be connected directly via USB mini to PC to copy files. The pictures taken with this camera are soo nice! Colours are a little bit dull but skin tones are very pleasing. I can recomend this camera a lot if speed and good low light performance are no essentials.

Overall rating
Having wanted to try out Digicam photography following a rash of YouTube video recommendations, I hunted down one of these little cameras. I have used Nikon DSLRs for many years and wanted a camera that could give me a similar level of control and options. The sturdy magnesium alloy body called to mind my prior cameras and just felt right in hand. This camera impressed me with its varied features and options, doubly so given its age. Priority modes and full manual control, as well as a highly customizable myMode option, which I use for quick access to the camera's excellent black and white mode. This camera comes with a hearty seal of approval to all those who want to get into vintage digital cameras and wants a more advanced camera without having to invest in lenses!
