This camera is an absolute gem. For anyone looking for a solid, sturdy but compact APS-C that doesn't break your bank it is a no-brainer. The CCD sensor is superb, colors are "chef's kiss"! The only drawback is the auto focus. I bought the cheap 50mm/1.8 but it is not reliable. Recommend to use it in manual focus only. Auto WB performs ok, even exposure is good enough. One of my all time favourite cameras. I wish Pentax would make a 10MP CCD sensor camera update - for those of us who would pay the extra buck. :-)

It's really solid, for such an old camera! I am usually surprised with the quality of the pictures I can get, they are usually almost ready to go just from the raw, a minimal post-processing (mostly white balance and exposure in complicated pictures). I struggle a bit with the exposure (more under exposed pictures than I would like) but the Pentax K-3 has really spoilt me! :-) Still, the raw files are very workable and even at high ISO, the noise is really pleasing, if you accept the capabilities of the sensor (plus part of the uglier chroma noise can be tamed in post). The camera handles amazing, it's super-ergonomic, sturdy and trusty, I love the feeling in the hand, I feel confident, even with a 15+ years-old piece of complex machinery. I am also really stoked with lens support: even KAF-4 lenses like the 55-300 PLM work flawlessly (except aperture control, of course). It's so fun to shoot with this camera. Especially with the SMC 28mm f/2.8 manual lens: quite compact and really cool combo, as it makes the CCD sensor shine in the colours and textures. Definitely, a camera to keep, enjoy and love for a very long time!
